J'ai du bon tabac dans ma tabatière
Angoulême (16)The restoration of a 19th-century main house and the conversion of former tobacco warehouses into lofts.

The project has two parts. On one hand, work on the main house, the oldest building on the site, with several major heritage features to preserve and restore, part of which is a listed historic monument. On the other hand, the warehouses at the back of the plot, converted into fully fitted « artist's studio » lofts.
The approach was to keep intervention on the existing buildings to a minimum, after a full survey of the whole. The volumes at the back of the plot are composed as resolutely contemporary pieces, while the work on the main house is more discreet and brings out all the existing mouldings.
