studio
Onésime proper noun, from the Greek Onêsimos, « useful »
Onésime Perrot was a mason in the Charente and Vienne regions, and the grandfather of Romaric Perrot. Through his relationship with building, he gave Romaric the desire to carry on, in a way, the work he had begun.
The Greek root of the name, Onêsimos, means « useful ». That is exactly the point: to offer useful architecture, centred on uses and on an understanding of people.
An architecture that is situated and delicate, responding both to the demands of the site and to the conditions that give rise to it. Rigour in drawing, translated into the ordering of matter, is the condition for an architecture able to take its place in reality and in the different times that shape it.
Onésime and not Perrot, because this is a practice far from egos: a studio that can be the matrix of something useful, for the benefit of its users and of the city.
« Traveller, there is no path, the path is made by walking. »
Antonio Machado
A graduate of the Paris-La Villette School of Architecture, Romaric Perrot trained in structural and construction issues at the École spéciale des travaux publics and at the Technische Universität Berlin.
He worked in several Parisian practices specialising in new housing and urban planning, and gradually focused on the production of social housing. This theme is central to his approach: it links architecture to the question of shelter and the right to housing.
This path led him to Arte Charpentier, a leading international practice, where he was in charge of developing these skills. The partnership with Arte Charpentier continues today through collaborations. Alongside this, he leads smaller-scale projects in interior design.
Also a graduate of the Paris-La Villette School of Architecture, Jacques-Adrien Delorme developed his taste for well-built architecture at the École spéciale des travaux publics, then at ETH Zürich.
He has worked for leading Parisian firms specialising in construction management, coordination and scheduling: CALQ Architecture, Kardham, and currently GEMO Management. He has built expertise in office programmes and heritage issues.
He manages works on large-scale projects, such as the Europa office campus in Levallois-Perret, designed by Baumschlager Eberle Architekten. His control of schedules, costs and contractor coordination serves one constant aim: preserving architectural quality.
design philosophy
An architecture rooted in the reality of construction.
We see each project as a shared vision between a client and the architect who gives the idea form. Our approach stays close to the realities of the site, while letting each project's own sensibilities come through. This means mastering every stage of the idea's development without being confined by it: the structural and material vision feeds the first sketches, just as art, sociology, geography and history feed each approach.
It also means speaking frankly as professionals, the only way to build lasting trust with our clients.
method: playing as a team
Each project is the embodiment of a unique idea: in this sense, we only make prototypes. Our bet is to play as a team. By surrounding ourselves with diverse, expert skills in each field, we deliver balanced and fitting answers, for projects of very different sizes and stakes.
Finding the right information, in the right place, at the right time. Knowing how to step aside to innovate and propose.
environmental commitment
The studio's first commitment is to work with what is already there: starting from the spirit of the place to enhance it and propose a measured intervention.
At the urban and architectural scale, thinking about the bioclimatic design of spaces, which is about more than insulation. At the building scale, favouring virtuous, renewable materials.
Drawing on the complementary skills of its partners, the studio also works on converting vacant offices into housing.
